DOFF Cleaning System
DOFF is a special cleaning apparatus that uses steam to clean delicate surfaces, such as stone. Unlike other steam systems it can achieve temperatures up to 150°C at the nozzle end. The operator is able to vary the temperature and pressure for various applications. Doff steam cleaning is often used to remove paint, biological matter, general dirt and grime without causing harm or shock to the substrate.
DOFF cleaning is an ideal solution for cleaning delicate stonework and masonry. The system uses super heated steam to remove stubborn materials and debris. This non abrasive method cleans without damaging the stones surface. The steam evaporates and does not saturate the stones surface. Thus leaving the surface clean and dry almost instantly.
Conservation officers have endorsed the system and is often the preferred method for cleaning Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.
The DOFF cleaning system will remove moss, algae, fungi and other biological matter. The super heated steam will also kill off any spores. Therefore removing the need to use chemical biocides during the removal process. And protecting against further biological activity.
DOFF can effectively remove;
- Paint coatings (most oil and plastic types)
- Certain types of graffiti
- Bird or vermin fouling
- Algae, moss, and fungi
- Wax coatings
- Chewing gum
- Bitumen, oil, grease and many others, all without causing any damage or disfiguring the substrate.
The DOFF System is completely portable and can be used in almost an environment. UK Restoration Services undertake DOFF steam cleaning projects across the United Kingdom.
