44. This weeks video is how we restored the leadwork on this dome. The building is Grade 2 listed and has a Capola on the roof. The Capola is constructed of softwood and has a large dome on top with a lead sheet cover the roof. We had found that the lead sheets had slipped from there original position which had caused the lead rolls to open up. Phil and the Restoration Team Lead welded on two new overcloaks to the dome. These new overcloaks lapped over the next sheet to prevent water ingress. We also installed stainless steel fixing to the dome in the middle of the lead sheet. These fixings were screwed into position. Day 4 onsite. We start the day with a puncture on the dumper. Phil and the team repair the tyre. We use the excavator on site to move large concrete blocks. These were used to brace the concrete shutter to prevent it from collapsing. The team then shows how we mix concrete onsite with pan mixer on the telehandler. Farmhouse 4 - How we fix Punctured Dumper Tyre, Mix Concrete & Quarry Stone
After the Garage demolition yesterday we started to excavate the site below floor slab level. For this we used the 12 ton CAT excavator to remove the bulk of the material. Dumpers were used to dispose of the spoil on another part of the site. We then used a laser level and the Kubota to garage the site. Phil also talks about the past abandoned mines and the test drilling that has already taken place. This video shows the process of demolishing the garage on the Farmhouse project. Phil is on site using the Kubota excavator with the grab attachment on demolishing the garage. We removed the tin sheets from the roof and loaded into a skip. The timber was picked out with the excavator and loaded onto dumpers. Once the garage was demolished we used the concrete pecker attachment on the Kubota excavator. Farmhouse 2 - We demolished the Garage & dug up the Concrete bases
The start of an epic 18 month construction project building our family home in Burnley Lancashire. After years of battling with the local planning department we can finally start on the build. In the video today Phil and the team start clearing the site ready to demolish the original farm garage. WWe had been using the garage for storage. Material from past job and supplies for the build were been kept in the building. These were mainly stored in new shipping containers on site. We also moved the old welfare cabin onsite. This had been sat for the past 4 years in the same place. We welded on eyelets so the cabin could be lifted and relocated. A large pile of stone and cobbles had been stored at the rear of the building had to be moved. Farmhouse 1- Building our New Home....Day 1

We are at back at Turton Tower following our last video https://youtu.be/C78zDeF2U8k The local council decided the hinge issue we discovered on the last video need quick attention and could not be left for a year. The old doors needed quick attention to stop them from collapsing and possible further damage to the oak doors. Phil and Scott were on site to address the door hinge issues. The 15th Century doors weigh a huge amount and we struggled to remove them. During the restoration we had to weld new threaded bar to the hinges. This enabled us to refix the hinges to the oak frame post. We installed a nut and plate washer to the hinge. 41. Taking on the Planners - Lessons Learnt over 5 Years
40. We are part way into a Restoration Project at Blists Hill Victorian Village in Ironbridge. Our Team are currently working on the Blast Furnace and the Brick & Tile Museum. At the Blast Furnace we are undertaking roof repairs to the Engine Houses, Brickwork and Structural work. Dismantling, painting and re-fitting the cast iron gutters and down pipes. Internally cleaning the building of pigeon guano, painting the windows and doors. All consolidation of the iron furnace bases. This involves using Lime Mortar to rebuild the brick and stonework. Work to ruins wall heads to ensure the rain water is kept out. At the Brick and Tile Museum we are undertaking roof repairs to 5 buildings. Installing new Stainless Steel gutters to the buildings. Painting and decoration of the cast iron downpipes and gutters. Consolidation works to 6 ruin structures. This includes brickwork and stonework rebedding with Lime Mortar. De-vegetation on and around the ruin structures. Structural stabilization work to one of the Grade 2 listed buildings at Ironbridge. We will be restoring the UNESCO world heritage for a 20 week program. 39. Part 3 - Restoration & Build of 40m Church Pinnacle - The Final Piece
Phil explains how the moisture movement in the listed stone masonry wall is trapped within the building. The damp walls is now causing stone Decay to the surface of the masonry. The listed building has not been covered since the fire 2 years ago. The wet walls have been saturated with rain water. Now we have installed a temporary roof to the building the damp walls are drying out. This is causing the salts within the damp wall to mobilize. These salts are migrating to the surface of the stone. Because the listed building has been pointing with cement mortar the moisture has to evaporate through the stone causing a sandy - dusty surface detereation of the masonry. If the stone had been pointed with a lime based mortar the lime mortar would allow the moisture to pass thought it as it more breathable than the cement pointing.

36. Phil and team continue the Roof Capola restoration in Manchester. The team us a resin and stainless steel bars to bond the Pine timber posts of the Capola back together. The balustrade was glued into the posts as the whole framework was lowered on the sub-structure. Our team of restoration contractors working in Manchester restoring heritage and historic buildings and structures. We unfortunately didn't get any film footage of the leadwork going onto the dome, however we did get some of the leadwork on the lower deck. 36. Part 3 - Historic Capola built on site
35. Phil and Luke are on site working for the 2nd day in the heritage roof Capola in Manchester. We stripped the leadwork from the base of the Capola, we believe the lead to be the original when the Capola was constructed. Once the Leadwork has been removed we carefully removed the battens to reveal the rotten timber structural post to the Capola. All four structural post had rotten to a very dangerous level. The water had passed through the timber joints onto the post and allowed to decay the structural timbers. We cut away the posts which had a Tennon from the horizontal beams.
