In this video we remove a pair of historic oak doors from the Bishop’s Palace as part of an ongoing heritage building restoration project. These original doors are extremely heavy, covered in years of graffiti, and suffering from worn bottom rails, damaged mouldings, and seized hinges.The doors are carefully removed by hand, without lifting machinery, using wedges, straps, and traditional site methods to protect both the timber and the historic structure. We used core drills to drill through the stepping stones and the bedrock. Restoration of the Abraham Darby Furnace at Ironbridge – full internal scaffolding complete as we begin major structural steel repairs, corrosion treatment, and roof removal on this historic industrial landmark. Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site restoration update covering scaffold installation, steelwork inspection, purlin corrosion, sandblasting plans, and heritage conservation works.In this site update, I take you inside the Abraham Darby Furnace at Ironbridge to show the newly completed internal scaffolding — finished in just three weeks instead of the planned six to seven. The scale of the scaffold is incredible, with large spanning beams, crash decks at the apex, and multiple working levels giving safe access to the entire structure.We walk through the planned works including inspection and repair of corroded steel beams, purlins, wind bracing, and apex steelwork.
